Bridge Day – Sunday 31st May
One of our key highlights is Bridge Day on Sunday 31st May, a wonderful opportunity for members, friends, and the wider community to come together. It’s a day to enjoy great company, strengthen friendships, and celebrate everything that makes our club special.
Events like Bridge Day remind us that Rotary is about more than service—it’s about connection, community, and shared experiences.
Preparing for the 2026–2027 Year
Planning is already underway for the 2026–2027 Rotary year, with strong enthusiasm and fresh ideas guiding the way forward. Together, we are laying the groundwork for impactful projects and continued growth.
Leadership: Damian’s Year as President
We look forward to Damian’s year as President, confident that his leadership will bring energy, collaboration, and clear direction to the club. His vision will help strengthen our initiatives and community impact.
Supporting Our Local Community
We remain committed to supporting local services, including the Athelstone CFS, whose dedication keeps our community safe. Our continued involvement reflects Rotary’s commitment to service where it is needed most.
Making a Global Difference
Our efforts also extend beyond our local area. We proudly support initiatives to end polio worldwide and contribute to the ongoing work of the Rotary Foundation, helping to create positive change across the globe.

Editorial
One of the things I’ve been reflecting on recently is just how broad and diverse Rotary truly is.
For many of us, Rotary is experienced through our local club — our weekly meetings, community projects, fundraisers, and friendships. And that’s important. In many ways, that local connection is the heartbeat of Rotary.
But Rotary is also much bigger than that.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been exploring the world of Rotary Fellowships — international groups that connect Rotarians through shared professions, interests, hobbies, and passions. I’ve discovered Fellowships for cycling, photography, wine appreciation, sailing, hiking, music, railways, caravanning, aviation, and many more.
And honestly? I think there’s something deeply “Rotary” about that.
Because while Rotary changes communities through service, it also changes lives through connection.
In an increasingly disconnected world, organisations often struggle to create genuine belonging. Yet Rotary continues to build friendships across generations, cultures, professions, and countries. Fellowships are one of the clearest examples of that spirit in action.
They remind us that Rotary isn’t simply a meeting we attend. It’s a network we can grow into.
I suspect many members don’t realise how much Rotary has to offer beyond the walls of our own club. Fellowships open doors to new friendships, shared adventures, professional connections, and global experiences — all grounded in the same values that bring us together locally.
Perhaps that’s part of Rotary’s quiet magic.
You might join Rotary because of a local project or a community event. But you stay because of the people.
And sometimes, those people are found not only around our own meeting tables — but across Australia and around the world, through a shared interest and a Rotary connection.
Maybe it’s time more of us explored that side of Rotary.

Meeting 1991 of the Rotary Club of Morialta was held as a Club Assembly, covering financial reports, director updates, and planning for the upcoming Rotary year 2026–27.
The club holds substantial funds, with strong fundraising performance including from the kiosk and general fundraising. Discussion occurred about planned expenditure.
The PNG Midwives Project is nearing completion, having trained 66 PNG midwives and 34 Australian midwives over eight years at a total cost of approximately $323,000.
The kiosk is undergoing major renovation with an anticipated reopening in mid-August 2026.
Key upcoming events include the Bridge Day (31 May), District Assembly (31 May), Biggest Morning Tea (21 May), joint meeting at Mitcham Edinburgh Hotel (3 June), and Changeover Dinner (5 July).
The club is planning for its 2000th meeting, anticipated in October, and a committee is being formed to organise the celebration.
Membership drive from the Duck Race generated 19 contacts, with 12 expressing interest in Rotary.
Members, partners, friends and guests are warmly invited to join us for the Rotary Club of Morialta Changeover Lunch.
Our annual Changeover is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the past year, recognise those who have contributed to our club's success, and welcome our leadership team for 2026–27.
Set amongst the beautiful Adelaide Hills at Barristers Block Wines, the afternoon promises great food, fellowship and Rotary friendship.

Rotary Supports Athelstone CFS Family Day
Rotary members Graeme and Vin were pleased to lend a hand at the Athelstone CFS Family Day held on Sunday, 24 May, at Thorndon Park.
The event brought together around 60 attendees, including CFS volunteers and their families, creating a relaxed and enjoyable community atmosphere.
A highlight of the day was a delicious BBQ lunch, expertly prepared by our very own BBQ masters, Graeme and Vin. Their efforts were warmly appreciated by everyone in attendance.
Alongside the meal, a range of family-friendly activities kept both children and adults entertained throughout the day, making it a great opportunity for volunteers and their families to connect and unwind.
Rotary is proud to support the local CFS and contribute to community events that recognise the vital work of volunteers and strengthen community spirit.
Bridge Day
On Sunday, 31 May, members of the Morialta Rotary Club provided catering services for a luncheon held in conjunction with the SA Bridge Club’s fundraising event in support of the Rotary Foundation’s End Polio Now campaign.
The District Governor, Dr Rajeev Kamineni, together with his wife, Mrs Priya Kamineni, generously assisted with the barbecue and food preparation, contributing significantly to the smooth delivery and success of the occasion.
10 Years of Service
Congratulations to Graeme Packer on receiving the 10 Years of Volunteer Service Award from Campbelltown City Council. Reaching a decade of dedicated service is a remarkable milestone and truly speaks to his commitment, generosity, and community spirit. Rotary is fortunate to have such a passionate member making a lasting difference.
Through Rotary, police officer Joanne Serkeyn expanded her view of how to make a difference. In July, Serkeyn will become the governor of District 7090
Purpose: to hear a presentation, promoting the purpose of the Royal Adelaide Show stand and potential outcomes, from Project Manager/Chair of the RAS Action Team, Julian Carbone, RC Mitcham.
Outcome: All members of each club will know and understand the purpose of the goals of the operation and goals of this project.
RC Mitcham will host the meeting at the Edinburgh Hotel, and we have advised them in this regard.
RSVP to President Rosemary Padmanabhan by 20th May 2026.
Julian will be able to present around the RAS project, and we are also trying to arrange for Grace King to speak to the combined clubs. She is a global scholar planning to study in Edinburgh, and our club is supporting her to learn more about Rotary International prior to her leaving.
DG Rajeev Kamineni has also been invited and has confirmed his attendance.
